Teaching Development Courses

Teaching College Science (ISE870)

Michigan State University

During the spring semester of 2019 I took a course entitled Teaching College Science. The course is designed for graduate students in the sciences whom plan to teach in the university setting following graduation. The course focused on:

  • How students learn science 

  • Student-centered teaching 

  • Effective assessment methods 

  • Curriculum development

  • Technology in the classroom

Science Class

This course helped me better understand how people learn, and provided invaluable practice implementing student-centered teaching methods and classroom technology. This knowledge and practice has given me the skills to I need to successfully teach using these methods in the future.
